Who is handywoman Nicole Michael DIY?
Nice of you to visit my website. I am Nicole and I live in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam-Duivendrecht.
When I was 18 I moved from Groningen to Amsterdam to study.
As a student I had little money and that’s where I started building my own cabinets and tables, so I didn’t have to buy them.
Handywoman
I often get the question how I learned to build. By doing it. And if something goes wrong, you do it again. When I was younger, there were no turtorials online, no helpful YouTube videos explaining how to build something. Carpentry, plastering, masonry, I just started doing it and eventually I got more and more handy as a Handywoman.
I now have three children and for them I build the custom beds and cabinets in their bedrooms. They are getting older and have more and more demands, but that is another challenge.
I had never built a pool or poured tiles before. I just started doing it by reading a lot and looking up how to build certain things myself. Finally it worked out, after nine months of building we had our own pool, a plunge.
It’s also very satisfying when you build it yourself. You are less dependent on others, you don’t have to wait for someone to come along and fix or hang something. I can do a lot myself, but certainly not everything. I still learn every day and that makes DIY extra fun.
